Background

The inaugural Disabled British Open took place at Old Thorns Golf & Country Club in 2009, followed by the 2010 event at East Sussex National.  The championship returned to East Sussex in 2011 with the addition of the Junior event and attracted golfers from 11 countries around the world.

All three tournaments have been televised by Sky Sports with a one-hour highlights programme televised four times. The tournament now has the backing from the English Golf Union, The R&A, The European Tour and the Minister for Media Culture and Sport, the Right Honourable Jeremy Hunt MP.

Congratulations to Duncan Hamilton-Martin of St George's Hill Golf Club, winner of the Disabled British Open 2011, who is looking to defend his title at this year's event.
